Life Style as a Teen Mom

What Teen Moms Said

Susana Ramirez

The 10 girls I interviewed have something in common: they all got pregnant at a young age. From interviewing these girls some struggled to get their diplomas and some dropped out. It was harder for them to go to school with a belly; some would get tired or get lazy, even hungry. They all got support from somebody important in their life,. For example, baby’s daddy, their mothers in law, parents, or sometimes even cousins. Their life changed right when they got pregnant; It was harder for them to go out like they used to. They had a bigger responsibility having to stay at home feeding their baby and also being there for their babies. From these girls i interviewed some girls wanted to know the sex of the baby right away and others wanted to wait until the babies were born.

I’m proud of these young mothers because they became strong ladies and never gave up on their loved ones. It is not easy at all to have a baby, especially at a young age and still having to go to school trying to reach their goals and dreams. Hopefully, this shows other teen girls a lesson to not go that path. Thanks to all the teen mothers that have helped me put together my blog in order to teach younger girls that this is not the path they will like to take. There are better choices in life, staying in school and becoming an intelligent young minded person.

I found this  video. Over a year ago, teen pregnancy was going down, but, thanks in part to a reality show named’ Teen Pregnancy’ & ’16 pregnant in 2009, it went down. Over 82% percent of girls who watch this show said it hepls them understand the struggles in a teenage motherhood. Teen Pregnancy is the second  popular TV show on MTV. Teenage girls are making better choices watching this show. Parents should talk to their kids more about sex, relationship, congruences, and about having goals in life.

I found this article  in the New York Times. This article was about  girl at Toppenish High School in the Washington State.  The seniors there  needed  to learn about teen pregnancy. So for this a student named Gabriela Rodriguez to present her senior project she choose the topic teen pregnancy. She wore a fake belly of cotton batting pretended she was pregnant as a way to study the stereotypes, rumors and statistic pregnant teens need to deal with. I feel that it was a nice idea to show how in high school students spread rumors about somebody real quick.

Posted by: Teen Mom's on: April 14, 2011

I found this video from Teen Mom Janelle Evans who got in a fight with another teen mom, Brittney Truett. Janelle got charged for throwing the first punch in the fight. Brittney pushed Janelle into the fight sold the  video for about $4,500 to $5,000. Janelle wants a percentage of the money Brittney made from selling the video.

    • Mr. Yacco: I've seen reports that teen pregnancy has been declining but I was not aware that an MTV show has been proven to have contributed to the decline. Who
    • Howard Ruffner: You have covered a difficult topic with sensitivity, good job. I am impressed with the number of interviews you did and the honesty you brought out.
